Pharmacy Fellowship in Toxicology

The Carolinas Poison Center and the UNC Eshelman College of Pharmacy offer a two-year pharmacy fellowship in clinical toxicology. The fellowship experience includes all facets of clinical toxicology and prepares the fellow for successful credentialing by the American Board of Applied Toxicology (ABAT). Activities include care of the poisoned or overdosed patient, formal teaching from board-certified Medical and PharmD toxicologists, experience in teaching and precepting, clinical research, manuscript preparation, and poison center management. The primary focus is recognizing, assessing, and managing toxic patients. The fellow functions as an essential member of the toxicology service at Carolinas Medical Center. Minimum requirements include a PharmD from an ACPE-accredited program and a PGY-I general pharmacy practice residency. Completion of a PGY-II residency in emergency medicine or critical care pharmacy is strongly preferred but not required.
