Hydrocarbons
- Kerosene, gasoline and certain oils
- Present in lamp oil, paint thinner and furniture polish
- Can cause burns if left on the skin
- Irritating to the stomach, causing nausea and vomiting
- If a child chokes on a hydrocarbon, it can be drawn into lungs causing a chemical pneumonia which is potentially life threatening.
- If incorrect contact has occured wash skin, do not induce vomiting, and do not give food or drink for at least 30 minutes.
