- Substances such as gasoline, kerosene, charcoal lighter fluid, paints, paint thinner and remover, turpentine, antifreeze, fertilizers, and automotive products could produce serious injury if swallowed.
- All of these substances must be stored up high enough to be out of children's reach or locked up out of sight.
- Keep products in their original containers with the original labels.
- Closets, pantries and other storage areas in your home should also be checked for potentially dangerous substances.
- Rat poisons, plant foods and mothballs can be potentially harmful if ingested.
- Make sure these types of products are placed out of a child's (and a pet's) reach.
